It will help you to read anything you can that explains life in Haiti. Be mentally prepared to enter another culture, which has a different language, food, housing arrangements, worship, etc. You will experience many new things and at times, face problems in communication and cultural differences. Prepare yourself to be mentally and spiritually flexible. It’s also good to prepare yourself physically. We will be doing a lot of walking.
-Spend time in the word and in prayer to prepare your heart for this trip
-Pray that the Lord will prepare you for your time in Haiti
-Pray for the people in Haiti preparing for our visit
-Pray for the hearts of the children that we will be ministering to at the orphanages
-Pray for your team members and leaders
-Pray that our team will remain healthy in body, mind and spirit and for the safety of our team
-Ask others to pray with you and for you while we are in Haiti
Remember to have a good attitude. Practice your good attitude now! When you are at work or you are asked to do something that you don’t understand, practice having a good attitude. In Haiti, the weather will be hot and you may be tempted to complain, but remember that you are doing the work of the Lord. This isn’t about you being comfortable but rather about us getting out of our comfort zone in order to bless others. Remember that everything you do should reflect Christ even we are not doing direct ministry. Every bit of this trip is a representation of Christ; when we eat, when we are around our dormitories, when we are in the airports, etc.
